Regulations
Good to know before you ask
Houses built before the 1980s on raised foundations are especially vulnerable to sliding or collapsing cripple walls in an earthquake. Retrofits are done under a building permit, to a prescriptive standard or with engineered plans.
In California, the Earthquake Brace + Bolt program offers grants to eligible homeowners in selected ZIP codes. We do not perform retrofits ourselves and do not show prices.
